Skywatch Friday - Busy Bee

I know, it's supposed to be Skywatch Friday, not Sunday, but it's OK, this photo is from Friday a week ago, so it's totally late anyway. This past Friday in our corner of the world was grey, rainy and generally moody, not very photogenic :) When I left the house for work the previous Friday I was struck by the loud humming buzz as I closed the back door - what is that? Looking up I realized it was a kazillion bees buzzing around in an ornamental pear tree that's flowering with wild abandon in our back garden. Clearly no-one told this tree it's not fully Spring yet, with all the changes in weather from cold and rainy to bright sunny skies, our daffodils are blooming and so is the pear tree. So, SkyWatchers, keep your eyes and ears open for signs of the seasons, and the happy sounds of bees a buzzin'. If you'd like to see what other SkyWatchers are looking at, check out the SkyWatch Friday site.
Whoever is out of patience
is out of possession of his soul.
Men must not turn into bees,
and kill themselves in stinging others.

Slightly less philosophical, and yet oh-so-true is this one:

No bees, no honey;

no work, no money

So off I went to work :)

Other than watching the sky, I've been playing with ink and Valentine cards, fiendishly quilting, a fun family gathering yesterday, and generally wandering around the planet mulling over the Meaning of Life. Oh, and working, laundry, cooking, getting kiddos out the door to school, the drama of having a young driver in the house, all that good stuff that happens whether you're ready for it or not.

What have you been up to?

  2. Hey, Sue! Great photo of the blossoms. Talk about early! That doesn't happen here until April or May! We have locust trees in our yard. I hate em cause they are brittle and they have thorns, but I digress. They blossom every other year, and when they do, we hear the hum of the bees all over. It is crazy!
    I love your Valentine, too! I just got mine done, and ready to go out. Other than that, busy being a wife and Mom, crocheting by the wood stove at night in front of the TV, and taking care of my daycare babies!
    Have a good week!

  3. lovely photo--like a breath of loveliness on a dreary day! We have a bunch of white-blossoming trees by my work, but I'm not sure what they are. They're so pretty, but they wreak havoc with my allergies so I was actually glad for the rain this time, LOL!

  4. You can skywatch any day and this is a very nice picture to do it with. And enjoy the blossom whenever it's there, because it's there anyway. Well, that's only my opinion :-) Kind regards
