Today my son turns 15 - yep, my youngest, also the tallest member of our family at 6'1", no matter how old he gets he'll always be my baby boy :) He's a pretty happy boy right now, having received gifts, cards with $$ inside, phone calls, and lunch out, he's now reclining on the couch playing with his new toys (the electronic kind ...).While we were out at lunch my daughter, 17, was telling me how she's going to move out, get tattoos, etc., rolling her eyes at most of my suggestions (stay at home while you're in school, move in with girlfriends before you try to go it alone or live with/marry a man, blah, blah, blah, boring, unsolicited advice which is promptly dismissed/ignored). Sigh, they grow up SO quickly. I'm am officially like those adults in the Snoopy cartoons, when they speak it just sounds like 'wah wah wah wah, wah wah wah wah wah wah' - remember that?? Well, that's me. She did still like her Un-Birthday present though - around here the kid who's not having a birthday gets one present, with a Happy Un-Birthday card, this year a little tag.
Stamp Credits: Background and initial 'F' - Judikins(from the Judikins Warehouse Sale!)
background rays and dots - Tim Holtz (Stampers Anonymous)
Text and oval punches - Stampin' Up! (love those!)
Border punch - Martha Stewart, Square scallop - Marvy Uchida
Cardstock, Eyelet & Ribbons - SU!
Flynn's card was a bookmark tag this year, I figure that will have a longer life than a card, even if it's only marginal, he loves to read. I had fun playing around with some Tim Holtz background/texture stamps over the main background image, they're fun and I need to keep experimenting with them, they have a LOT of potential. In the interim I'll just keep wasting my breath with perfectly ignorable unsolicited advice, like every good parent out there, blah blah blah, wah wah wah.
Gorgeous cards!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh those teens... gotta love them to pieces right?????? Mine are still young...10 & 11, but some 'tude sneaks in every now and then...
The best advice I could give your dd, is to also LIVE ALONE! Learn to be independent, after living with girlfriends.... I am one of those people who actually did move out at 18 and never moved back.. It was awesome... I was lucky...
And, I went home most holidays and cried my eyeballs out when I left (I lived in CA, my family in MO)!!!
Hi, Sue! I bet every once in a while one or two of those words actually sneaks in through a stray brain cell or two that isn't completely full up with attitude. Gorgeous card! :-)
ReplyDeleteHelp! Mine are all still pre-teenage but we are starting to see glimmers of change with our 11yr old. Keep saying all the right things and maybe some will go in one ear and not slip out the other side!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards by the way!
yep--"wah wah wah wahwah". Get used to it Sue. Melissa's pushing 30 and she STILL ignores some of the BEST advice I've ever offered ANYONE!!
ReplyDelete;-)

ReplyDeleteLOL about the unsolicited advice!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat card by the way!
oh, I love how you put everything together! The background looks great and adds the perfect subtle touch!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tag and great idea for a bookmark! Love the reference to the Charlie Brown cartoons. I knew exactly what you meant!! Congrats to Mr. Birthday boy and Miss unbirthday girl too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I just adore the Initial stamp!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous card/tag/bookmark. Love all the depth of color and texture you achieved. I sound just like those adults in Peanuts, too. I keep on talking because I know some of it sinks in. Hang in there. They still hear us even if they aren't listening at the moment.
ReplyDeletei love tat's but, tell her to wait till she is at least 25.
ReplyDeleteYour card is just stunning Sue! Happy Belated to your son! I hope he had an awesome day!
