Thanks to some recent challenges on a stamping message board, I played around with ink, stamps and paper this weekend, and the results were surprising to me! I ended up using bright, happy colors, AND bright happy stamps - wow!
I started by stamping the image on several brightly coloured papers ...
... then paper pieced them by cutting out the butterflies and postmarks, and assembling them. It's fiddly doing the cutting out, but meditative, then playing around with colour placement is just plain fun. The butterflies are glued only along the body, so the wings are free flying.

Thanks for stopping by, wishing you joy. Have you taken time to just play lately?
Loved these cards when I saw them in the challenge! Glad you are playing! Keep sharing!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards. Love all the pretty colors and how you did the paper piecing.

ReplyDeleteSue,

Hi, Sue! It was fun seeing all your stamping creations during Stamptoberfest. It's fun to just play, isn't it? Love these butterflies! :-)
ReplyDeleteoh WOW! gorgeous card and YES INDEED the beautifully saturated colors make this pop right off the screen...without overwhelming! (which is a tricky line to walk, so WELL DONE there!)
ReplyDeleteweirdly enough, i've been thinking and playing...and thinking ABOUT "art play"...a very lot lately; i agree completely that it is NOT an optional luxury, but a necessity (at least for me!) to prevent boredom and stagnation!
