I had no internet this weekend - not only could I not check my email, write on a blog, or surf the net, I found my focus for most other tasks blurred because of my preoccupation with getting online. In some ways it was productive, I straightened up a little, threw out some post-holiday bags and mess, cleared away the stockings and tree ornaments, made some cards, baked (!!), did laundry, etc., but I realized how dependent I am on my computer time - I'm wondering how healthy that is, or is it just the new norm? I usually start the day with a cup of tea and my keyboard, checking in. I think I may need to reduce my online time and focus on the rest of the world a little more.

These are my daughter's favorite muffins - apple cinnamon - the recipe is from a little book my Mum bought on a trip to Canada, those Canadians know good muffins (and my Mum knows good recipe book - thanks again Mum!!). The plate is from one of my most beloved collections - vintage chintzware. This one is 'Hazel' - pretty much my all time fave. I just love those colors and all those tiny flowers! The card is for my sister-in-law, she's having a birthday this month and I believe I have mailed it out ON TIME - I pretty much try to at least start out this way each year, shortly before things slide into chaos and mess again :) Here's to optimists, who really believe they start each year with a chance of getting it right!
