Setting My Compass

I'm in the middle of a creative blitz - I have several projects to complete this weekend. It seems that despite my determination to be present in the moment, to treasure each day, I'm somehow smack dab in the middle of January with no clear idea of how that happened! Instead of having time to reflect on the year to come I'm just immersed in it and carried away by the tidal rip of much to do in little time. I'm guessing this is just going to be the tone of 2009, multitasking, and I need to make peace with that. I'm setting my compass for a point just over the horizon and accepting whatever it may bring.

One of my projects this weekend is to put together four of these quilt blocks. It's my first try at a Mariner's Compass, a very simple version, but I'm pleased with it. My quilting group has made four blocks to swap, using the last of the fabrics from our large project in 2008, and as the year goes on we'll each turn the 4 block sampler into a quilted project of our own individual design, along with whatever else we're working on. Multitasking defined. Another of my quilting projects this year will be a graduation quilt for my daughter, but I won't be starting THAT this weekend :)

I'm working on some albums for my friend Beverly - I mentioned her to you last year and asked for your prayers and positive thoughts as she is battling cancer. Well, cancer is winning, so now I'm asking you again to please lift her up in prayer and good wishes, let's send her off to heaven on a huge wave of love and positive energy. She's one of the most wonderful women on the planet. Have I mentioned that cancer is not fair, just or right?? But, as Bev herself says, no boo-hooing, just get on with it!
