Sometimes love just looks like a smile, or a twinkle in the eye, and sometimes it looks like heart shaped waffles. I often cook pancakes for my son on the weekends, today when I offered to cook pancakes he looked at me as you do at someone who's lost their marbles "Mum, it's Valentine's Day - waffles!?!".

Oh duh, how could I forget a tradition that I started myself?? It's just been one of those weeks, and I could almost forget my own name at this point. So, this is what love looks like around here today - heart shaped waffles (thanks for the reminder kiddo), lovey dovey tags for little somethings, and flying heart toppers for M&Ms.

Here's my secret - every year I buy extra holiday M&M's at Christmas - the red ones go in Valentines, the green ones are for St. Patrick's Day. You know, I'm feeling pretty good about that - I remembered to buy them, I remembered to use them, I even remembered where I put them - oh yes, I'm that good! (I have to make myself feel better about forgetting the waffles ... ) I know you can buy them in solo colors now, but this is more fun, and much more budget friendly, I'm fighting the recession one M&M at a time :)

My son, who is 9, sounds a lot like your son! I bought both my kids cute little heart shaped boxes of chocolates... He said, 'Is this it? Last year we got a book!'.. Damn... I guess I should have remembered the whole book thing!!! Oh well...

Love the waffles!!! We bought a packet pf M&M's for my birthday and they were all yellow. I can't say they were as tasty as an assortment of colours. I think it was the yellow! Red looks much better, as does green. I don't think I'd be too fond of the blue ones either. But hey, they all taste the same, right??

ReplyDeleteand waffles - they're gorgeous! i used to have a tradition (sorta went by the wayside over the years) of making them waffles with strawberries and ICE CREAM on their birthday :-) totally bad but... heck.. you get one birthday a year right?
the M&M's... you're so clever - i'll have to try and remember that (valentine's and st.patricks) but my question is how do you keep from eating them in the months in between????:-)

I'm just loven' the green and red M&M's as I've done the same thing in the past... it's such a cost effective idea and fun creating your own thing. Great Candy Topper too... the waffles look so YUMMY! I {{LOVE}} it... Smiles! :)
