As much as I try to play with pastel colors and lighten up here and there, at heart I'm a dark and fiery color kinda gal :) I had a great time throwing ink around for this tag, I like the heat that comes out of it. Even my quilting tends to be on the darker side, making for some interesting times on group projects. I like deep earthy colors.
Currently I'm working on two quilts - one group project in shades of blue, and one sampler quilt using batiks in pretty funky bright colors, and I'm planning to add a third project in purples, blues and greens for my daughter - a graduation quilt.

Here's a 'Drunkard's Path' block for the group project. The background fabric looks white in this photo, but it's really an ice blue with white feathering, lovely and delicate looking.

And a 'Card Trick' block for the batik sampler (I told you the colors are funky!)
So now I have to get off the computer and make another block for the group project, I'm thinking about a blazing star. The class that I'm taking is strictly hand-stitching, so there's no machine work here, every piece stitched by hand. Are you working on any fun projects right now, paper, fabric or otherwise?

What a great tag !! wonderful job !
ReplyDeleteLovely blocks, Sue. I don't believe I'll ever hand-piece, but good on you for keeping that artform alive!
ReplyDeleteHi, Sue! The tag is gorgeous! I like the yellow peeking out from behind all the red. Really pops the warmth! :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Sue,
ReplyDeleteGina here. You commented on one of our St Patricks Day posts. I do a little bit of stamping making homemade cards but nothing as sophisticated as your creations! Keep up the good work,
G
Cute tag. Love how you used the cool TH stamps. I am itching to make something with mine (since I've been saying that forever it seems). Love your pretty quilts too!
ReplyDeleteLove the tag! Thanks so much for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous stuff--I love dark colors too! That batik quilt is fantastic--love it so much!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt squares! I can't imagine the patience that takes! Love the tag! Your a creative genius, Sue!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt peices. I kind of prefer the handstiched quilts, it gives you more time to contemplate or stitch the love in.
ReplyDeleteNice work on the tag, you sure now how to make those stamps work. Have an order with a new Aussie stamp company, will let you know if they are as good as the advertising that totally has me lured in.
