The Gathering Storm (pre work adventures)

This sunrise on a stormy day totally captivated me, that huge cloud in the center seemed full of light, and reflected very yellow in the ocean. Even though I was on my way to work, I couldn't resist pulling over to try to capture it. This view is facing west, with the sun rising over the peninsula behind me.

Despite my best efforts, with my little point-and-shoot elph, I really didn't capture the effect of that luminous cloud , but you can see the yellow swathe of light on the water. I can still recall the feeling of the blustery pre-storm wind, and the freshness of the air, the wonder of the scene, and the fun of going in to work a little windswept, a tad dishevelled, very enlivened by my early morning oceanside moment on the cliffs. It made me wonder - why don't I do that more often?? It's very perilous to spend our lives rushing from one appointment to the next - look at the wonders we can miss along the way!

This last photo is my favorite of the three. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Standing on the edge of a cliff in the gathering storm? Part of life's daily call to adventure.

To see what others around the planet saw when they looked up and out, check out Skywatch Friday.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

  5. Beautiful - and I am a weather girl! I so agree with your point - that in our rushing around, we sometimes fail to see beauty around us.

  8. Beautiful photos, and I totally agree in taking the time to notice the beauty that surrounds us. I always love it when I get a chance to see the sunset over the Everglades on my way home from work or as I drive into my neighborhood. The intensity and gorgeous colors are just stunning.
